Screen Queensland, in partnership with Essential Screen Skills, Kolperi Outback Filmmaking and Screen Well, is reigniting our immensely successful Film Intensive Script to Screen (FISS) program with iterations running in both Brisbane and Cairns in 2025.
FISS is an entry-level crew development program aimed at participants aged 18 or over, including those with transferrable skills from other professions, who are looking to gain set-ready production skills and industry credits. Selected participants will be mentored by highly experienced local industry professionals to build hands-on filmmaking experience through a series of workshops and intensives, culminating in the production of new short films. Participants who live outside of Brisbane in South-East Queensland may request financial assistance to cover travel and accommodation costs. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and we may organise a video call to discuss your individual needs.

Applications will be assessed based on your passion for storytelling conveyed by your written or video application, and your availability to attend and engage in the entire process. The compulsory program dates are:
- Workshop 1: 7th of March, 2025
- Workshop 2: 8th of March, 2025
- Workshop 3: 12th of March, 2025
- Film Pre-production: 13th and 14th of March, 2025
- Film Production: 17th – 21st of March, 2025
- Wrap up workshops: 22nd and 23rd of May, 2025
