Essential Screen Skills is running a professional development day designed to enhance your technical skills with workshops to increase your confidence with cinematic lighting.
Friday 14th August, 8:30am – 3:00pm
Location: Pacific Lutheran College – Woodlands Blvd, Meridan Plains QLD 4551
Workshops include:
- Cinematic Lighting Tips and Tricks. Hands on practical activities for teaching cinematic lighting led by Lara Masselos. You must bring your own laptop with the latest Adobe Premiere Pro installed and headphones. Your laptop must be fully charged and it is advised to bring adapters for USB or USBc flash drives and your own external hard drive to copy footage and timeline from.
- The following equipment will be provided:· SD card readers (Windows and Mac)· Tripods· Studio lighting equipment and modifiers· Access to studio spaces for filming activities
- Careers in the Screen Industry presentation delivered by Moneth Montemayor from Essential Screen Skills.
- Swap and Share resources – a chance to network and collaborate with your colleagues to trade Units, Lesson Plans, TLAPS, Assessment items (bring something to swap and share!)

Lara Masselos – Head of Department, FTVNM, Pacific Lutheran College
Before teaching, Lara Masselos operated Lara Masselos Productions for more than 20 years, specialising in travel, fashion, food, and short documentary filmmaking. Lara now draws on this industry experience to adapt professional cinema production techniques for classroom use, supporting to students create cinematic footage using entry-level cameras and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Moneth Montemayor – Project Manager, Essential Screen skills
Moneth Montemayor is a passionate Arts Educator who firmly believes that a quality arts education will enable young people to develop skills in empathy, expression and understand themselves, others and the world around them. She has worked in the Department of Education (QLD) for more than 11 years as a teacher, year level coordinator, pedagogy coach, master teacher and Head of Department.
As an advocate for arts education Moneth holds the positions of Co-Chair of the Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) and is a board member of the National Advocates for Arts education (NAAE) representing Media Education. Previously she held the positions of Co-Chair Queensland Advocates for Arts Education (QAAE) and was a long-term President of ATOM Queensland.
Greg Sullavan – Account Executive – Canon Australia
Greg Sullavan is an award-winning photographer and account executive with Canon Australia’s professional imaging team, based in Brisbane. Holding a Bachelor of Photography from the Queensland College of Art and backed by years of experience, he has refined his expertise in colour management, lighting, composition, and fine art printing.
As the founder and director of Sunburst Studio in Brisbane’s southeast bayside, he offers a diverse range of photographic services, workshops, and unique experiences. Greg has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned brands, mentoring aspiring photographers, and capturing timeless images that resonate with clients worldwide.
