Event: Youth Pitch Masterclass presented by Asia Pacific Screen Academy delivered in partnership with Australian Teachers of Media Queensland and Essential Screen Skills
Venue: The Langham, Gold Coast
Date: Thursday 27th November, 2025
When: 9:30am to 2:30pm
Who: students from year 10 to 12 studying a screen and media subject are encouraged to apply (Media Arts, Media Arts in Practice, Cert 3 in Screen and Media, Film, Television and New Media)
Selected participants will work with local and international producers on their film, television or webseries concept to improve their pitching skills and refine their ideas.To apply, students are required to create a 1 page pitch for a Film/TV/Web series ideas and creator’s statement. This pitch will be provided to the producers and the masterclass will enable participants the opportunity to refine their pitch.

GREER SIMPKIN
Greer Simpkin joined Bunya Productions as Producer and Head of Television in March 2015 after many years working in editorial and production roles in broadcasting – ABC (Australia) and Channel 4 (UK). Since joining Bunya, Greer has produced the award-winning television drama series Mystery Road (series 1 and 2) and the award-winning feature films Sweet Country and Goldstone.

Greer was an Executive Producer on the feature film Jasper Jones. She was a producer on the feature film, High Ground, starring Simon Baker which screened in a Gala Presentation at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival. Greer is currently producing Ivan Sen’s Loveland and Leah Purcell’s The Drovers Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson.
Greer has also produced a number of documentaries including The Troublesome Priest for the ABC, the VR film Every King Tide for SBS and the drama/doc series Blue Water Empire for the ABC as well as the feature documentary Sanctuary, which received a Special Mention and came fourth place in the Audience Award at the 2019 Sydney Film Festival. She has most recently produced the feature documentary The Leadership (one of 6 Good Pitch Australia finalists in 2016).
Greer was Deputy Head of Fiction at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for 5 years, where she was instrumental in commissioning a large slate of new dramas and narrative comedies and was an Executive Producer of The Code, The Secret River, Parer’s War, Serangoon Road and Hiding.
RIMA DAS
Rima Das, a two-time National Film Award-winning filmmaker, is known for making indigenous and realistic stories that explore complicated relationships, finding purpose, coming of age and life amidst nature. She was conferred Academy Awards (Oscars) membership in 2024.

She is also one of the Brand Ambassadors of the Toronto International Film Festival’s “Share Her Journey” campaign that champions the cause of gender equality in cinema. GQ India named Das as one of the Most Influential Young Indians of 2018.
Her films Village Rockstars (2018) and Bulbul Can Sing (2019) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and screened at over 120 prestigious international film festivals, winning over 70 awards including National Film Awards in India. Village Rockstars was also India’s official entry to the Academy Awards 2019. In 2022, Tora’s Husband had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and its Asian Premiere at the Busan International Film Festival.
She also directed the Emma part of the My Melbourne anthology, supported by VicScreen and Screen Australia, shot in Melbourne with an Australian cast and crew. The film had its world premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 and its international premiere at the Mumbai Film Festival 2024. She also directed a Hindi-language film co-produced by a Mumbai-based production house to be streamed on a digital platform.
